Исчисляемые и неисчисляемые существительные в английском языке
В английском языке, также как и в русском, есть исчисляемые существительные и неисчисляемые. Исчисляемые существительные (countable) – это те, которые можно посчитать, а следовательно их можно поставить во множественное число и употребить с неопределенным артиклем a/an.Например слово “book” – оно исчисляемое и поэтому мы можем сказать “a book” или “one book”. Это слово может иметь форму множесивенного числа и мы можем сказать или написать: two book, three books и т.д.
Неисчисляемые существительные (uncountable nouns) обозначают то, что нельзя сосчитать. Как правило, они не имеют формы множественного числа и с ними нельзя употреблять артикль a/an, так как данный артикль произошел от числа “one” – один, а следовательно он может употребляться ТОЛЬКО с исчисляемыми существительными в единственном числе.
Какие существительные относятся к неисчисляемым?
Еда: cheese, butter, bread, meat, honey, salt, sugar, rice, bacon, chocolate, jam и т.д.
Жидкости: coffee, milk, lemonade, oil, wine, tea.
Материалы: gold, iron, silver, wood, paper и т.п.
Абстрактные существительные: beauty, love, information, happiness, knowledge.
Неисчисляемые существительные употребляются ТОЛЬКО с глаголами в форме единственного числа и вместо a/an или one, мы употребляем some. Напрмер: There is some meat in the fridge.
Но в английском, также есть слова, которые могут быть countable (исчисляемые) и uncountable (неисчисляемые) одновременно. При этом их значение будет меняться в зависимости от того, как вы их употребляете: в качестве исчисляемых или неисчисляемых.
